Do Not Arrest
Do Not Arrest
A new law in Michigan allows the police to take DNA sample upon arrest of a violent crime. Let me say that again. Effective July 1, 2009 all arrested in the State of Michigan for violent felonious offense shall submit a DNA sample at the time of arrest. Changing the current law that actually waits for a conviction costs 5 million dollars to implement.
A DNA scenario like this: Upon arrest for rape, homicide, arm robbery, etc a fingerprint and a DNA sample are taken and examined for other crimes that may link to the individual. If a conviction is not achieved the individual must then pay to have the sample removed from the criminal DNA database.
The major questions that come to mind are; Is there a national database of DNA being created? If so, Why? How will this information be stored, used, sold, shared, secured, etc? Legislators hiding behind violent crimes isn’t good enough a reason for this drastic change in the law!! What’s next? Think about it!
Please contact your congressman about repealing this law or putting it on the ballot. Pretty soon all arrests or police encounters will require DNA if we don’t stand against this madness now!
